PETER FRAMPTON SHARES THE CODE NAME GEORGE HARRISON USED

 

Peter Frampton recently appeared in an interview with Professor of Rock and gave interesting information about The Beatles. As Frampton revealed, the lead guitarist George Harrison had a code name.

The Beatles’ George Harrison significantly contributed to the rock scene with his guitar skills and impactful solos. He influenced the group’s distinctive sound with the other cultures’ music. The rocker was interested in Indian culture and tried experimenting with it in the band’s music.
Besides delivering the lead guitar successfully, he contributed to the world-famous group with his songwriting skills. Although John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote most of the songs, Harrison’s compositions also gained recognition for the group. The tracks like ‘Taxman’ and ‘Something’ became impactful during his career.

The rocker focused on his solo career following the breakup of The Beatles, and his successes continued. He collaborated with notable names such as Eric Clapton and Ringo Starr. The rocker also worked with the soul singer Doris Troy for her self-titled album. He met Peter Frampton during the recording, and worked together for the record.

Peter Frampton recently stated that George Harrison’s professional assistant Terry Doran introduced him to Jeffrey during the recording session of Troy’s album. 

Frampton did not know who Jeffrey was and asked about him. Doran said that he was Harrison and the musician realized that each The Beatles member had a code name.

Frampton noted that Harrison was doing his first recording for the Apple label for this album. The rocker was also shocked as The Beatles guitarist knew him and called his name.

Frampton said in his words:

“Terry said, ‘Do you want to come and meet Jeffrey?’ And I said, ‘Jeffrey? Jeffrey who?’ He said, ‘Harrison.’ I said, ‘Oh! It’s a code name.’ So, all of The Beatles had code names. I didn’t know at that point, but Jeffrey is George. I said, ‘You’re kidding me, right?’ He said, ‘Yeah, he’s recording down the street. They’re recording in Trident.’

He’s doing Doris Troy’s first album, his first album producing for the Apple label, and George’s first production. I said, ‘I know Doris. She sang on ‘Shine On.’ That’s when I meet George, and he looks up from the console and goes, ‘Hello Pete.’ And I thought, ‘Wow, he knows me. How does he know me?’ So I got to meet George, then within a few minutes, he said, ‘Would you like to play on this track?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’”
