Paul McCartney during the 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on October 30, 2021 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins Has Died. The drummer, age 50, died in Bogotá, Colombia
Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins has died. The band, who was in Bogotá, Colombia near the end of a South American tour, announced the news Friday night (March 25) on social media. Foo Fighters canceled their scheduled performance at Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogotá and were slated to headline Lollapalooza Brazil on Sunday.

Hawkins was 50 years old, and no cause of death has been revealed. The band’s statement reads in full:

The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live with us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.

Hawkins joined Foo Fighters after they completed their 1997 album The Colour and the Shape and had since been a member. Prior to his tenure in Foo Fighters, Hawkins played drums for Alanis Morissette around the release of Jagged Little Pill. Hawkins’ most recent work with Foo Fighters included last year’s Medicine at Midnight, a project of Bee Gees covers, and the horror film Studio 666.

Paul McCartney played drums on Foo Fighters Song: 'Sunday Rain' .

Paul McCartney played drums on the Concrete & Gold Beatles sounding track Sunday Rain, the song that Hawkins takes lead vocals on and winged it.

Taylor for the Glastonbury headliners said the veteran rocker only took "two takes" to get the beat down perfectly.

"He hadn't even heard the song. He comes in and Dave picked up and acoustic [guitar] and showed him real quick. He sat on his special drum set that his tech set up for him.

I sat there with a drumstick conducting. He did two takes."

Tylor Hawkins is survived by his wife Alison and their three children.

Ringo Starr and fellow legends like Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons took to Twitter to respond to rock music’s loss.

SEAN LENNON OPENS LIVERPOOL PERFORMANCE CENTRE

Sean Lennon opens Liverpool performance centre in honour of mother Yoko Ono
Sean Lennon, has opened a "world class" performance centre in Liverpool named in honour of his mother, Yoko Ono.

He visited his father's birthplace to officially unveil the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, home to the University of Liverpool's new 400-seat concert hall.

The New York-based musician appeared at the ceremony on Friday, 25 March, on behalf of his mother.

After he drew back the curtain to reveal the plaque, the 46-year-old said: "I'm very happy to be here. It's a beautiful building and my mum sends her love to everyone here."
The centre will include the 600-seat Paul Brett Lecture Theatre and The Tung Auditorium - a 400-seat space designed to accommodate a wide variety of genres.

In an exclusive television interview, Sean Lennon told ITV Granada Reports: "I know it means a lot to [my mum]. She loves music and she loves this school especially so it's really nice.

"It's a good time to start recognising women. My mum's story is complicated in terms of her relationship to Beatles fans.

"My dad was often frustrated by people's reaction to he and my mum being together. They were a couple that had sort of merged into one super-human person and I think a lot of people took issue with that. I think he was very hurt by that, as was my mum.

"He would be very glad that that attitude has subsided and now people are embracing her, as they should do."

He said Yoko has always cared a lot about Liverpool and brought him to the city during his childhood.

He added, "She cares a lot aboout Liverpool and it means a lot to her that my dad's legacy is looked after well here."
The university's vice chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer, said: "Over the past 31 years, more than 650 students have benefited from the John Lennon Memorial Scholarship which was established in 1991 by Yoko Ono Lennon in memory of her husband.

"The scholarship supports students from Merseyside who are in need of financial support and have raised awareness of global and environmental issues as part of their studies.

"Being able to name this wonderful building in honour of Yoko Ono Lennon cements her status as one of our university's greatest benefactors and the venue celebrates her unique artistic vision and cultural significance."

Yoko Ono recently said that she was "thrilled" at the honour. She said: "Liverpool has become part of me from years of going there, and with this new centre part of me will always be there - for that I'm very thankful. I think John is smiling about it too."

Her son revealed he has been on secret walks around Liverpool during his visit and popped his head into the Cavern Club to see where his dad played.
During his visit, Sean Lennon also met postgraduate students who are taking the first master’s degree in The Beatles and learning about the band’s influence on popular music and culture.

He said: “I think it’s such a cool time that you can get a degree in Beatles. "The world is evolving and I do think that it’s a worthy area of study because The Beatles are such an important part of modern culture, not just musically speaking but they are sort of part of the fabric of our modern society. “I think the phenomenon of The Beatles is very important and it’s worthy of trying to investigate and understand.”

Zak married longtime love Sharna "Sshh" Liguz on Monday in an intimate ceremony in front of family and friends at the Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood.

The pair, who have been together for nearly two decades, chose the special date in honor of their daughter Luna Lee Lightnin, who was born on March 21, 2021.

"After 18 years together, Luna's umbilical cord kinda tied the knot but we wanted to make it official and share with our friends and family in the U.S., before doing the same in Jamaica and the U.K.," the couple shared in a statement.

Grammy-winner Starkey, 56, was given away by his father, Ringo Starr, while Liguz's photographer father Andrzej Liguz did the honors on her end.

"Great to be solid with the greatest girl in the world. And to celebrate Luna's No. 1 birthday. Thanks to everyone who came from near, far, wide, abstract and online," Starkey wrote on Instagram.

"Our dearest friends in da USA- great to see u at our wedding and experience true party stamina. Feels great to be wed to the woman I have loved for 18 years."
The Australian artist and musician, 37, wore an Alexander McQueen gown for the occasion, which was officiated by British reggae singer Pato Banton.

"This super small affair happened with our nearest & dearest on the day our darling daughter was born," Liguz wrote on Instagram. "A double celebration of love life & all the blessings bestowed upon us. So grateful for our family. Locked & loaded & ready to roll with love."
Pearl Jam rocker Eddie Vedder and The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr served as Starkey's best men, with the latter appearing via video.

Among the couple's close pals who were present for the nuptials were Starr's wife Barbara Starkey, Augusta Tigrett, the daughter of Starr's first wife Maureen, and fashion publicist Kelly Cutrone.

Starkey and Liguz make music together as the duo Sshh, and are also the co-founders of the record label Trojan Jamaica.

A MERSEYSIDE LANDMARK WHICH ONCE HOSTED THE BEATLES IS SET FOR A MASSIVE RESTORATION COSTING ALMOST £1M

Earlestown town hall has been closed since 2008 and the building has since fell into a sate of disrepair. Despite this, the striking building has a rich history- having once hosted The Beatles, when they were an up-and-coming band in 1962.

The grade two listed building was closed by by a former St Helens Borough council administration to meet budget savings. The council announced in 2019 that they had committed to a five-stage restoration programme to bring Earlestown Town Hall back into use, with work beginning next month.

The town hall was originally opened in 1892 and served as the headquarters of the Newton-le-Willows Urban District Council, until the boundary change in 1974 introduced the St Helens Metropolitan District Council. It was subsequently used as work space for the delivery of local services by the district council until its complete closure in 2008.

The Beatles' performance at the town hall in 1962 would be the band's only concert in Newton-le-Willows. The show was promoted by the T&T Vicars Sports and Social Club (Football Section), and was billed as "The Big Beat Show No 2."

Steve Gorman, who played at the venue in its heyday, told the ECHO: "My dad Bill Gorman and his orchestra played there many times and once in early 63 with The Beatles,Then I played there with a pit orchestra on drums for many pantomimes when Harry Kitson ran Newton amateur dramatics, many happy memories and fantastic building. I'm sure it could be restored and put to good use for the people of Newton-le-Willows."

Councillor Richard McCauley, St Helens Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning, said: “Earlestown Town Hall is rightly seen as a focal point and symbol of Earlestown’s proud heritage and identity. That’s why this council has committed to restore this iconic building to help the town return to its former glory.

“We know from consultation feedback that local residents value the importance of retaining Earlestown’s heritage – the town hall being a key feature of this and bringing it back into use is a commitment in our Borough Strategy and the Earlestown Town Centre Masterplan Development Framework.“Residents want to see positive changes made to our borough, particularly in our town centres, which we're delivering through a number of regeneration projects, including this one, as we look forward to an exciting future.”

Councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron, Deputy Leader of St Helens Borough Council and a local ward councillor for Newton-le-Willows, added: “Bringing Earlestown Town Hall back to life has been an ambition for some time, so to get to this stage, with all the obstacles thrown at us during the past couple of years with covid, is a proud moment and I’m looking forward to seeing the end result.

“Heritage gives us a sense of place and belonging – that’s why it’s vitally important landmarks like Earlestown Town Hall are protected and preserved at all costs – and that’s what we as a council are committed to doing.

“With fresh, modern redevelopment plans for Earlestown Town Centre to come – it’s historic buildings like the town hall that residents will always hold dear, and it will play a vital role in an exciting future for Earlestown.”

External work to restore Earlestown Town Hall will begin in April 2022 with an expected completion date of late autumn 2022.

GEORGE HARRISON SAID HIS BEST SLIDE GUITAR SOLO APPEARS ON A BELINDA CARLISLE HIT

George Harrison rarely appeared on other artists’ records. However, in 1989, The Go-Go’s frontwoman, Belinda Carlisle, got the surprise of a lifetime when George agreed to appear on two songs off her third solo album, Runaway Horses.

The only thing George remembered about the collaboration, though, was that he gave one of his best slide guitar solos.

George Harrison agreed to work with Belinda Carlisle because he liked her voice
The Go-Go’s frontwoman is one of the artists that the ex-Beatle agreed to work with throughout his career. He collaborated with many people. George enjoyed working with Jeff Lynne on his 1987 album, Cloud Nine. George loved being a Traveling Wilbury with Lynne, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison too.

So George’s appearance on Carlisle’s album was unusual, to say the least. Apparently, it happened out of the blue too. George’s wife, Olivia, claims that her husband agreed to collaborate with Carlisle simply because he enjoyed her voice (per Ultimate Classic Rock).

“Rick [Nowels] said we should get someone cool and with a distinctive style to play the lead guitar part,” she wrote. “I thought for a moment and said ‘What about George Harrison?’ I had met George briefly a few years earlier in San Remo Italy and Morgan [Mason, Carlisle’s husband], through his work on Sex Lies and Videotape, knew someone who was close to [Harrison] and able to get word to him. George responded right away, saying he’d love to help out.”

George contributed guitar on two tracks of Runaway Horses, “Leave a Light On” and “Deep Deep Ocean.” In a 1992 interview with Guitar World, George said he did his best slide guitar solo during his collaboration on either of the two songs. He didn’t name which song, but Guitar World thinks it’s “Leave a Light On.”

George seemed to forget who he worked with as well. He couldn’t remember The Go-Go’s frontwoman‘s name.

“The best slide solo I ever played was on… what’s her name? That girl singer who used to be with that all-girl band?… Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Go’s! That’s who it was,” George said.

“I played on one of her albums [1989’s Runaway Horses]. One of the slide solos had its own little tune which related to the tune Belinda was singing, but it’s also a little composition in its own right, which I was really pleased with.”

Carlisle released “Leave a Light On” as a single. It narrowly missed the Top Ten on the U.S. chart, peaking at No. 11. However, it reached the Top Five in other countries, including the U.K.

George’s slide guitar was a key factor in the song’s success. Their collaboration was effortless.

RINGO STARR : “GEORGE WAS GETTING A LOT OF INDEPENDENCE FOR HIMSELF IN THOSE DAYS”

“George got stuck with being the Beatle that had to fight to get songs on records because of Lennon and McCartney,” Bob Dylan once said of Harrison. “Well, who wouldn’t get stuck?” He added: “If George had had his own group and was writing his own songs back then, he’d have been probably just as big as anybody.”

When Ringo was asked if he shared the opinion that they were basically already done before making Let It Be, he agreed that they might have still lived there .

“George was getting a lot of independence for himself in those days,” Ringo opined. “He was writing for himself more, he wanted things to go his way. When we first started they basically went John and Paul’s way y’know because they were the writers”

Continuing: “George was finding his independence and he wouldn’t be dominated as much by Paul as he was, because in the end Paul wanted to like point out the solo to George and George would say, ‘Well, I’m a guitarist I’ll play the solo’ and he always did—he always played fine solos for what our band were.”

With tensions mounting and Harrison having already proved his songwriting chops on previous efforts, he got a little sterner in his responses just as the demands were going the other way. “It got a bit like, ‘I wrote the song, I want it this way’, whereas, earlier on it had been, ‘Well, I wrote the song, give me what you can give me’,” Ringo concludes.
