IRISH JOCKEY RACHAEL BLACKMORE WAS CONGRATULATED BY RINGO STARR

Irish jockey Rachael Blackmore was congratulated by Ringo Starr after her historic Grand National success.

Blackmore, 31, became the first woman in history to win the Aintree Grand National last Saturday when she bested her rivals aboard Minella Times.

The Tipperary woman claimed the famous victory less than a month after becoming the first ever female Top Jockey at Cheltenham.

Blackmore revealed that she had received post-race plaudits from both King and Ringo Starr, when speaking to Sky Sports News.

‘I don’t think you get much more famous than Ringo Starr and Billie Jean King,’ she said.

‘It is incredible when those people are reaching out to wish you well and congratulate you on your achievements.
‘It is hard to comprehend that they would even know my name. It is unbelievable.
‘I have got so many well wishes from so many different people, people sending cards and letters that I don’t even know.
‘It is just fantastic support and everyone has been so kind.’
