ORIGINS OF "MYSTERIOUS" PAUL HOUSE REMIX REVEALED

Producers and Timo Maas and James Teej are behind the remix, released with Paul's full backing

The origins of a "mysterious" house remix of Paul's Wings track 'Nineteen Hundred And Eighty-Five' have been revealed.

A limited pressing of 300 white labels of the remix was made available on the Phonica Records website on March 31 and soon sold out. After McCartney's Twitter account linked to a web article about the remix, fans begin to speculate that it had been officially commissioned by Paul.
Now producers Timo Maas and James Teej have claimed the remix as their handiwork, explaining that they released it with McCartney's full approval.
Maas told Billboard that he actually started work on the remix in 2009, but set it aside because he "never fully succeeded in working the parts to a point where I really felt the end result was worth passing along".
After he and Teej had another crack last year (2015), the duo were happy enough with their remix to send it to McCartney for approval.
"After a few weeks we finally heard the news that Paul had gotten a chance to hear our version," Teej recalled. "He thought it was very cool and gave us a green light to put the record out. That will forever be the biggest moment of my music career and words can't express how it felt to have him personally approve the remix."
Phonica Records originally sold the white label for £7.99, but copies are now changing hands on eBay for as much as $400 (£275.00).
After Maas described the positive response to the remix as "hard to believe", Teej added: "I really have to give credit to Paul for taking a chance with us on this, but there is no doubt that this has all come together because of our collective and absolute love and dedication to music."
