George Harrison: Soul Man is an in-depth look at the ex-Beatle’s solo recording career. It’s 400 plus pages catalogue Harrison’s UK and US releases and places each release in its historical context. Details about who played on each song and where it was recorded are also included.  

More than just a discography, it uncovers the inspiration and meanings behind every song Harrison wrote and recorded in what was a remarkable career. It places Harrison’s song writing in its historical, cultural and spiritual context and reveals how he subverted secular pop music into a medium to broadcast a spiritual message to the masses.

The first of two volumes, George Harrison: Soul Man Vol. 1 covers the years 1968 to 1979, a period that saw him step out of the shadow of The Beatles and become a star in his own right. It was a period in which he invented the all star charity concert, championed what became ‘World Music’, became the first Beatle to tour America and the first to form his own record label, Dark Horse.
