RINGO's HELP! JACKET SELLS FOR MORE THAN $46K AT AUCTION

A jacket worn by Ringo Starr during the filming of the 1965 Beatles movie Help! was sold Friday at a music-memorabilia auction for more than $46,500.  The black wool double-breasted suit jacket features a gray vertical line pattern, six buttons on the front and four more buttons on each cuff.

Ringo wears the jacket in a short scene in which he's worried about a sacrificial ring given to him by the mysterious priestess Ahme that he's unable to remove from his finger.  Included with the jacket is a certificate of authenticity, a letter explaining that the previous owner was a friend of Starr's family and had been given the jacket in the 1960s while visiting Ringo's family and a glossy photo of Starr wearing the jacket in Help!
A number of other high-priced pieces of rock memorabilia also were sold at the auction, held by the Boston-based RR Auction company.  A Hard Day's Night album cover autographed by the four Beatles, which was auctioned for more than $30,200.
