"THIS SONG"

'This Song' was the first single to be released from George's 1976 album Thirty Three & 1/3, and it peaked at No.25 in the US singles charts.

It was written in humorous tongue-in-cheek response to a recent court case where George had been sued over the similarity of his song 'My Sweet Lord' to The Chiffon's hit 'She's So Fine.'

After many days in court listening to incredibly detailed excerpts of both songs George wryly said that he "started to believe that maybe they did own those notes".

The song features Billy Preston on piano and organ, and Python Eric Idle calling out "Could be ‘Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch,” “No, sounds more like ‘Rescue Me’!”
This video was originally shown on the 20 November 1976 episode of Saturday Night Live hosted by Paul Simon in which George was a special musical guest. See if you can spot various famous (Small) faces making cameo appearances including Ronnie Wood, drummer Jim Keltner and saxophonist Tom Scott.
