Amazing comments from Paul to the late Queen Mother have been revealed from the Caird Hall autograph book.
The former Beatles star penned his autograph during a visit with his band Wings in 1975.
The
comments came to light after news that Anton du Beke and Judy Murray
will be dancing to the Wings classic ‘Mull of Kintyre’ as part of their
visit to the Caird Hall next week.
Susan Gillan, Music Development
Section Leader, remembered Wings had visited the city back in 1975 and
checked the autograph book to find Macca’s entry.
There she
found a tongue in cheek drawing and comment directed towards the late
Queen Mother, who was then Chancellor of Dundee University.
The
Scouser drew a face with a crown adding a message saying “and love from
another subject” with an arrow pointing towards the signature of Her
Royal Highness which had been signed a few weeks before.
The same page in the book has a message from Linda McCartney saying “Keep it up Dundee, you take the cake! “
On
the discovery, Susan said: “This was a reference to the fact it was
Linda’s birthday when they visited and Paul had made sure there was
plenty Dundee cake on hand to celebrate!”
The host of famous
signatures doesn’t stop there though, comedian and actor Billy Connolly
has also penned his name on the same page.
The original autograph book is something of a rarity and has been digitised to allow the public to browse online.
