The Grammys is music's night of nights so it can come as no surprise that the hottest in the industry hit the awards stage.
What did come as a shock on Sunday night was the sheer number and the blend of iconic talents and new school acts.
Nowhere was that more obvious than the highly anticipated performance by Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney.
Sunday night's Grammy
Awards in Los Angeles, California, saw a plethora of performances
featuring old and new stars like Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney
Not
taking the Staples Center stage till almost the end of the show, the
trio had the crowd screaming in their seats during their scaled back
rendition of new hit FourFiveSeconds.
The
group ditched the production values which many had expected, performing
instead against a white screen in silhouette, before it was pulled up
for a simple grey fabric covered stage.
Allowing the
focus to be on them and not theatrics, there is no doubt it left a few
people underwhelmed, however, it certainly impressed the musical crowd.
Rihanna was undoubtedly the star, giving the track her all in an oversized man's suit which matched Kanye and Paul's.
The
two men seemed to be happy to keep in the background and notorious
stage stealer Kanye had already had his moment earlier when he performed
his ode to wife Kim Kardashian and daughter North, the Only One - which
was co-written by Paul.
