Paul and Kanye West’s surprise new single Only One has
climbed 21 places to Number 14 in today’s sales flash after appearing on
the chart for the first time on Sunday.
The track is written from
the perspective of Kanye’s late mother Donda, who the rapper says was
“singing to me, and through me to my daughter”.
It has prompted
tweets from Kanye fans – perhaps in jest – asking who the former Beatle
was: “Who is Paul McCartney”, another wrote: “I don’t know who Paul
McCartney is, but Kanye is going to give this man a career w/ this new
song!!”
Another added: “This Paul McCartney guy gonna be huge.”
Elsewhere in the singles charts Uptown Funk is set to score a fourth week atop the Official Singles Chart this weekend.
