Paul McCartney
may hold a top place in many hearts, but he falls a little short in the
wallet department – at least when it comes to his fellow recording
artists.
Global intelligence and prospecting firm Wealth-X just released the latest survey of World’s Richest Recording Artists, and Sir Beatle comes in at number two, behind superstar pop diva, Madonna.
McCartney’s $660 million net worth was a few bucks shy of Madonna at
$800 million, but well ahead of classic rock contemporaries, Bono (who placed #6) and Elton John (9th on the list.)
It is noted by the study that McCartney only made $7 million of his fortune during the Beatles years.
The rest of his fortune was amassed during his later solo career.
McCartney does hold one top distinction, however – at 72, he is the oldest member of this top 10 list.
