George and Ringo of the Beatles step off their airplane at
the Montreal airport on Sept. 8, 1964 and are greeted by hordes of
screaming girls.
They lined the sidewalks around the arena at the corner of
Ste-Catherine Street West and Atwater Avenue, clutching magazines,
sipping hot tea and singing their favourite Beatles songs while waiting
overnight to catch a good glimpse of Paul, John, Ringo and George.
The popular British group played two shows at the Montreal
Forum the following day, solidifying their hold on the city's teens and
airwaves.
Teens
lined the street the night before the Beatles' Sept. 8 performances to
ensure snagging a ticket and getting a good seat at the Montreal Forum.
