SAN FRANCISCO -- Paul
will headline the final send-off concert at Candlestick Park in August,
beating out a bid for him to perform at the new Levi's Stadium in Santa
Clara, San Francisco officials confirmed Thursday.
Tickets will go on sale May 5.
The 49ers had been in talks with the music legend to perform the opening concert at their new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
Mayor Ed Lee personally
invited McCartney to close the Stick when Paul played at
the Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park last year.
