Movie based around coming-of-age road trip to Harlech

The story of a ”daytripper” by pre-Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney to North Wales is set to be turned into a film this year.
A raft of new movie projects backed by Film Agency for Wales are in the pipeline over the next 12  months.

One project, called Men of Harlech,  by  writer Jeff Murphy,  tells the story of a  teenage John Lennon and Paul McCartney running away from Liverpool in a coming-of-age roadtrip to the North Wales town after  hearing the famous song.
Apparently based on a true story, the project is in  the very early stages of development with  scenes shot in Harlech if it gets the green  light.
Mike Hill, spokesman for Film Agency Wales,  welcomed the flurry of new creations and  said the area provided impressive locations for film companies to work in.
He said: “With a fair wind and some  further finance, 2014 may be a good year  for film in North Wales.“It’s great to see so many exciting  projects coming to the Film Agency  which showcase the great talent we have  in North Wales, some of which will also  utilise the fantastic locations in which to  shoot their movies.”
