33rd ANNIVERSARY OF JOHN's DEATH MARKED IN NYC

As fans do every year, they gathered at the Strawberry Fields memorial to honor former Beatle, singer, songwriter and anti-war activist John Lennon.
It’s hard to believe, but it was 33-years ago Dec. 8 that a stunned world found out Lennon was shot and killed outside the iconic Dakota apartment building on the Upper West Side where he lived with his wife Yoko Ono.
Mark David Chapman shot Lennon four times at the entrance to his apartment building at about 10:50 p.m.  He was rushed to nearby Roosevelt Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at 11:07 p.m.
Chapman is serving 20 years to life for the Lennon’s murder, and has been denied parole seven times.
