Remembering John Lennon, Who Would Have Turned 72 Tuesday
Tuesday marks what would have been John Lennon‘s 72nd birthday. The fans in Los Angeles are being asked to gather at the late Beatles
legend’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the Capitol
Records Building at 6 p.m. PT to celebrate the life and music of the
influential and beloved artist.
Attendees can bring candle and flowers to lay around the marker, and
also are encouraged to sing Beatles and Lennon solo songs, recite poems
and share their thoughts and recollections of the rock star.
Meanwhile, Yoko Ono, will be in
Reyjavik, Iceland, on Tuesday for the annual lighting of the Imagine
Peace Tower. The memorial — a white stone monument that projects a
strong light beam into the sky — was unveiled on October 9, 2007 — and
is lit on the same day each year as well as on select other dates. Ono
also will be presenting the LennonOno Grants for Peace, which are handed out every other year, to five activists and/or artists.
