LAST MINUTE REPRIEVE FOR RINGO´S HOUSE?

Beatles drummer Ringo Starr spent only the first three months of his life at 9 Madryn Street in Liverpool’s Dingle district, but his time there has turned it into a controversial place.

The star’s birthplace, along with 444 other terraced pre-1919 homes faces demolition for redevelopment in a multi-million deal for the city. However pressure is increasing to save it and turn it into a tourist hotspot.

With a final decision just weeks away Britain’s housing minister now says he wants local community group’s voices to be heard, and there are those arguing for the whole area’s historical value and preservation, as well.
