After a huge bout of success, Lennon began to lose touch and pull away from the band
Yoko Ono entered Lennon's life while he was married to Cynthia Powell. He divorced Powell in 1968 after Ono suffered a miscarriage
Following the Beatles' break-up, Lennon and Ono formed the Plastic Ono Band
Lennon and Ono moved to New York in 1971. He continues to record, releasing more solo and duo albums
Lennon strongly associated himself with the anti-Vietnam War movement of the '70s, resulting in President Nixon's vigorous, yet unsuccessful, deportation attempts
In 1975 Ono gaves birth to Lennon's second son, Sean, so he took time off to commit to his family
Lennon was shot outside of his home in New York City on December 8, 1980
Fans gather around Lennon's home to mourn their loss
