Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr pay tribute to Max Weinberg upon his entrance into NJ Hall of Fame
There was a big surprise in the pre-taped 14th induction ceremony for the New Jersey Hall of Fame, which debuted today on television and online.
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr taped separate videos congratulating inductee Max Weinberg, best known as a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. Weinberg’s son Jay, also a drummer (he now plays with the heavy metal band Slipknot), did the actual induction speech. But after a tape reviewing Max’s life and career is played, Starr and McCartney spoke, briefly, and McCartney also played a little drums.
Also in tribute to Weinberg, his friends and collaborators (in Max Weinberg’s Jukebox) The Weeklings played a cover of The Easybeats’ “Friday on My Mind.”
