PAUL ESTARA EN RUSIA A MEDIADOS DE DICIEMBRE
DREAM POWER JOHN LENNON SUPER LIVE: DECEMBER 8
Having celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, this year’s edition of the Dream Power John Lennon Super Live will mark a new beginning, taking place once again on the anniversary of his passing, Thursday, December 8, at the Nippon Budokan.
The concert was initiated at Yoko Ono’s behest to donate schools to children throughout the world. Through the proceeds of this year’s edition, we are planning to donate two schools in the Philippines, and one school each in Cambodia, Nepal, Thai, Vietnam, Ecuador, Guatemala, Ghana, and Senegal, for a total of ten schools in nine countries. Over the past eleven years, we will have donated 117 schools in 28 countries.
Twenty of Japan’s top musicians, actors, and creative professionals have responded to Yoko’s call to participate this year. In addition, John will make a virtual appearance using the latest technology, performing on stage backed by Tamio Okuda, Kazuya Yoshii, and Kazuyoshi Saito

LOUISE HARRISON SACARA LIBRO SOBRE GEORGE Y THE BEATLES
La hermana de George, Louise sacará próximamente un libro, con muchos recuerdos y anécdotas sobre George y los Beatles.
En el libro detallará sus experiencias personales y el cómo fue creciendo con la estrella.
Louise después de muchos años se ha decidido a hacerlo. Ha cedido y armará un libro con sus memorias, escritos y fotos nunca antes vistas, de su álbum familiar.
Su libro saldrá el próximo año o en el 2013. Louise, que vive en Branson, Missouri, dijo al Sarasota Herald-Tribune: "Se ha escrito tanta inexactitud sobre George y los Beatles, la mitad de las cosas ha sido escrito por personas que pasaron tal vez una hora en un avión con los Beatles. Ahora creo que es mi deber de dar la verdad.
"Ha habido todo tipo de mitos y fantasías acerca de ellos, por lo menos tengo algunos datos para contar en adelante, porque yo estaba allí -. Desde incluso antes de que ellos fueran los Beatles."
LIVERPOOL TO MARK 10 YEARS SINCE GEORGE´S DEATH
TEN years since George Harrison died, Liverpool will unite to celebrate his life.
Across three events tomorrow, the city will commemorate the former Beatle, who died of lung cancer on November 29, 2001.
“Liverpool will pay a special musical tribute to its beloved son throughout the day,” said organiser Denise Theophilus.
There will be a short Liverpool Cathedral at 11.30am.
“People are invited to bring a flower or a paper symbol of peace, with a suitable prayer written on it as love and peace were the precepts most dear to George,” added Ms Theophilus.
At 2pm the city will stage the Free Concert For George in the Concert Room at St. George’s Hall. In the presence of the Lord Mayor, bands marking different eras of George’s life will perform.
The acts include Jeff Slate (of the Badge), Lee Christian (of Smilex), Singh Strings and The Rebels, Tsema, The Liverpool Ukelele Orchestra, The Mersey Beatles and Andre Barreau (George in The Bootleg Beatles).
“For this concert I’m doing something completely new and looking at the post-Beatle years in George’s music,” said Andre. “I’ll be doing Give Me Love and My Sweet Lord, among others. Denise has also asked me to do Handle With Care from his Traveling Wilbury days, so I’m going to have to be Roy Orbison too.
“I do love his solo material. After he left The Beatles it just gushed out of him. I think before that maybe he’d been squeezed out. But his songs on Abbey Road are some of the best, I’d say.
“I’ve been George longer than I haven’t – I’ve been him in the Bootleg Beatles for 31 years.“I was fortunate enough to spend an evening with him. He was at Dave Gilmour’s birthday party and he came over to chat to us. He was great and spent the whole evening with us, introducing us to his friends. It was a privilege to meet him, just as it has been to play his music all these years. I think this concert is going to be an emotional one for us all.”
Hare Krishnas will pay their own tribute to George at the event.The final celebration will be a musical tribute at The Cavern, starting at 8pm.
Many of the acts who played the afternoon event will perform, including Tsema, The Rebels, Singh Strings, The Radha Krishna Temple, The Mersey Beatles, Jeff Slate, Brute Force backed by Misty’s Big Adventure and Andre Barreau of the Bootleg Beatles. They will play the music created and enjoyed by George.

JOHN APROBO EL INGRESO DE GEORGE A LA BANDA
George tenía quince años cuando dio su "prueba o audición" para entrar a The Quarrymen, a John. Como sabemos, fue Paul- con quien eran muy amigos, el que le presentó a John.
Cuenta la historia que la audición se hizo en el segundo piso de un colectivo por las calles de Liverpool. Harrison tenía apenas 15 años y esto no le agradaba a John. Lo veía muy joven para estar en el grupo, además John aparentaba tener más edad (tenía 3 años más que George). George le tocó el tema "Raunchy"y John quedó muy satisfecho de la ejecución... pasó la prueba.
"George era un año más chico que yo. En esa etapa es mayor la diferencia. John le mostró el estuche de la guitarra y le pidió que tocara. Fue perfecto y le respondió: estás en el grupo", recordó Paul.

Se cumplen 10 años de la muerte de George. Un 29 de noviembre de 2001 la muerte lo sorprendió en Los Ángeles rodeado de sus seres queridos. Un cáncer terminó con su vida. Tenía 58 años.
“George fue una persona hermosa. Siempre dijo lo que pensaba”, dijo Paul al enterarse de la trágica noticia.
Todos lo recuerdan como el “beatle tranquilo”. Junto a la banda de Liverpool aportó canciones que agrandaron su figura y su nivel musical (fue difícil estar al lado de la dupla creativa Lennon-Mccartney).
La guitarra fue su instrumento. Desde muy chico se sintió atraído por las canciones que llegaban al puerto de Liverpool desde los Estados Unidos. El rock cambió su vida para siempre.

Hoy se cumple una década del fallecimiento de una figura clave de la música popular: George Harrison, gran hombre, fundador de Los Beatles, creador de extraordinarias canciones y humanitario y solidario.
George nació el 25 de febrero de 1943, en Liverpool, y fue el cuarto hijo de una familia en la que el padre trabajaba como chofer de micros. Un amigo del colegio le obsequió su primera guitarra, en 1956, y poco tiempo después, a través de la amistad con Paul, se incorporó a la banda de John, The Quarrymen. Esta formación en 1960, daría sus primeros pasos como Los Beatles. Aunque fue un destacado compositor, esta faceta quedó opacada por la fuerte presencia de la dupla Lennon y McCartney. Sin embargo, compuso para los Beatles 22 temas.
Siempre fue considerado el más tímido de la banda, aunque según su esposa, Olivia Harrison, su comportamiento osciló entre los extremos. Olivia, con quien se casó en 1978 y tuvo un hijo, Dhani, lo describió a veces pensativo y callado; otras eufórico y alegre. Ella ponía un ejemplo concreto: aunque George solía meditar y le interesaba profundamente la filosofía hindú, era un fanático de la Fórmula 1. “El propio George no es un misterio -comentó alguna vez John-. Pero la parte misteriosa de él es inmensa”.
Una vez disuelta la banda, George comenzó un recorrido solista, plasmado en discos (para mí partcularmente la mejor en su carrera) All Things Must Pass , material que incluía su hit My Sweet Lord . Durante la década del ‘80 junto a Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne y Roy Orbisson forma a Traveling Wilburys.
Uno de los hechos más escalofriantes en la última etapa de su vida fue el atentado que sufrió el 31 de diciembre de 1999. Ese día fue atacado, en su casa, por un maníaco que lo dejó convaleciente. Pero su vida se deterioró dos años antes de este hecho, cuando le diagnosticaron cáncer de laringe, mal que rápidamente se trasladó al cerebro.
No solo hoy estamos contigo, lo estamos siempre George.

But a new document suggests that one of the most famous musicians in the world wasn't always focused on campaigning for world peace, writing another classic protest song or pushing the boundaries of artistic expression with wife Yoko Ono.

For a single sheet of lined paper reveals that Lennon, like most of us, had to put up with the mundanities of everyday life - and that meant jotting down the occasional 'to do' list.The sheet of paper, which is expected to fetch more than £3,000 when it goes up for auction this week, lists 11 chores that Lennon wrote down. And the priority for the singer when the list was compiled was... to make sure he was home for an appointment with a cable engineer.

'H.B.O. Guy coming between 3-5: BE THERE.(the other guy didn't know what was wrong),' Lennon wrote in black biro at the top of the page.The list also reminds the singer to put back son Sean's large mattress, make sure the family cars have enough petrol, and to buy some marmalade.He also notes: 'Hook on Door in our bathroom falling off'.

And there is also an insight into Lennon's literary interests. He reminds himself to make sure a Thor Heyerdahl book lent to Sam Green is returned and he also lists Margaret Trudeau’s Beyond Reason and Blue Mystery: The Story Of The Hope Diamond.Although the list is undated, a 5/22 written in red ink near the top is suggestive of a date.And a red cross against a single entry implies that Lennon wasn't able to complete every task on the list. The list goes under the hammer on the Gotta Have Rock And Roll website on Wednesday. The minimum bid stands at £2,000.
